it's the fateful video itself! i made this video in 2017, only a few short months after i began using the plot embryo to re-plot my mess of a novel.

little did i know, this concept was going to change my life in a huge way.

the plot embryo started out as a helpful tool for outlining my story, and over the past few years it's become my compass, my livelihood and an endless source of wisdom.

the plot embryo has become the thing i'm known for. i created a sister structure in the tragic plot embryo, i used it to fix my own stories, i coached other writers on how to get it working for their own, i made storyfix videos about it. I even did a talk for Creative Mornings called Uncovering Life's Plot about how the plot embryo has impacted not just my writing, but my real life.

And in the last couple of years, I've distilled everything i've learned so far about this powerful tool into my flagship course, the Story Magic Academy.

It didn't just teach me how to tell stories, it taught me how life itself forms stories, patterns of growth and change, evolution and failure.

The plot embryo isn't just a tool to me - it's the closest thing I've got to a religion.

And it all started here, with one writer trying out a new technique at her tiny desk and sharing the results.
